Quote from BlueFlame :You forgot to argue against the fact she had 'sex' with you after being 'raped' whilst you comforted her telling her it would be ok?

Quote from Klutch :Bullshit.

People deal with rape differently. Some completely recluse, others seek out intimacy to hopes of being comforted.

I agree with Klutch.

The only thing that seems consistent to me is the irrationality of the way women react to it, and the common trait of self-blame - which I believe is manifested from the social stigmas of rape victims that still linger in our society, even today the excuse "she was asking for it. Dressing provocatively" is still used as a defence in court, and it's so wrong.

As for this specific case, which the accuser here is suggesting Dustin is lying about having had sex: Does it really matter?

Besides he's not a kid, youngish but almost double the age that some folk become sexually active. It's not that hard to imagine, albeit somewhat unpleasant visually as one does so.

Dustin does talk a lot of rubbish to deliberately provoke a reaction, he likes confrontation and is his presence in a forum thread can be a bit like a testosterone charged rabbit sucking aphrodisiac laced amphetamines in a field full of single lush available female prostitute rabbits.

That said when he isn't trolling he's actually an ok guy, and if you can accept his sense of humour for the little quirky Canadian thing that it is, then it's not hard to imagine somebody with a similarly quirky sense of humour liking him. Not me, I don't find him funny, but i've met enough civil servants to know that there are people out there capable of finding his way of looking at things amusing, so if we factor out his forum personality, it suddenly isn't so hard to imagine him having a girlfriend and getting laid.

And now that that mental image is in your head i'm going to finish this post before mental image Dustin achieves the O face.

Quote from dadge :not nice. you must have seen something in her (keep it clean) to go out with her.

My fingers, and I washed them afterwards so they were clean tyvm.

Really I don't know why I ever dated mad stalker ex, neither does anyone I know who met her. My friend Faye puts it down to desperation but I plead temporary insanity.

The bigger question is why I stayed with her for around 8 months. When any rational person would have parted ways within a few days, so the temporary part is quite hard to justify.

She had no personality traits I liked, bored me senseless, interfered with my working life (I worked at home then), slept with half of Britain (she had most of your GF's during the time I was with her.), she couldnt be bothered to get a job, left me to all the housework and cooking, and she was rubbish in bed.

I am not proud of that one.

The girl before however, she's mental and I love her to pieces. If we didn't live so far apart I'd have married her already, but distance is a relationship killer. We're good friends now, I miss her and care enough for her that I got on with her current GF because I know that she's a better bet for her, being local to each other.

The last couple of years dating history, in reverse chronological order.

Pretty bad pic of her tbh, she does scrub up nicer but this is the only one I have on computer. On friendly text/ocassional phone terms but dont see each other.

The psycho stalker ex. Huge mistake, must have been desperate.

The ex before that (on the left, me on the right), now a most awesome friend. Still would.

Quote from DevilDare :No.

But walking up to complete strangers and chatting them up is something not everyone can do.

It's easiest with strangers, you never see them again, and you lose nothing. If anything i'd encourage you younguns to practice on strangers - just incase the one for you turns out to be somebody you've known for a while, but then never have the bottle to ask.

The key is to smile, if i'm nervous I don't smile and I don't pull. If i'm feeling self conscious I don't smile and I don't pull. When i'm feeling gregacious I always pull even when I don't intend too, which unfortunatley can lead to toilet sex which is never very pleasant.

A smile however usually says all that you need too. Even when i'm just looking at a girl across a room - if she smiles back i'll go up to her and say hi. I do love to use silly chat up lines, something that's clearly a chat up line - usually something original or utterly outlandish, but they're less reliable as not everyone has the same sense of humour (I go for humour over cheese). Usually though it just happens: My last innadvertant conquest was because of a hand dryer. Again, toilet sex is never pleasant.

So my advise to all you insecure folk out there is to smile, and avoid pulling in public toilets - especially if you're straight.

All imported drinks are pretty expensive in the UK. My favorite gin is almost as expensive as Bombay Sapphire (ludicrously overpriced Gin) and yet in Spain costs less the the loose change i'd throw at a homeless person to make them dance.

Luckily we're paid a gazillion times more than you, which is why all our jobs are outsourced.

Quote from Bob Smith :A Czech friend of mine brought me various Czech spirits which some friends and I took to sampling at my last BBQ. One was a rum called Božkov Tuzemský and it went down very well, the bottle almost went straight away.

I am not affiliated with this site, just did a google search and found it.

Straight away.

Just sayin'

Quote from Mustafur :Only rookie that was as good as Hamilton would be JV, but like Hamilton he had the fastest car on the grid.

Well if you go back a little bit further, Alonso was sensational in his first race and knocked up some championship points whilst driving by far the slowest car in the field. It was clear from his first race that Alonso would win at least 1 title.

Another brilliant rookie was Jean Alesi who very nearly won his maiden Grand Prix, but was thwarted by Ayrton Senna - the battle where Senna passed Alesi was so rivetting it had me stood on the sofa screaming as the young upstart made the world sit up and take notice. He was driving a sodding Tyrrell, and he was holding his own!

But the best rookie of all time has to be Giancarlo Baghetti, who won his first 3 grand prix, and retired from the next 2 after setting fastest laps. He then retired from Formula 1.
EDIT: Wikipedia shows 2 of the races where non-championship, and he did do more racing than I thought before retiring. None-the-less, hell of a rookie.

It could be argued that Johnnie Parsons also won his first F1 race, but he entered and raced the Indianapolis 500, a race which used to be part of the F1 calendar but which few European teams bothered to show up for, making the victory somewhat pyric in nature.

Nino Farina, who won the first ever GP to be held, doesn't really count.

Against drivers like that the rookies of this year don't really stack up too well. Nobody has stood out with exceptional performances but a lot of that is due to the "rookie teams" which are so far off the pace the cars are being driving in a manner to get them to the finish line rather than to perform well.

With that in mind i'm not yet casting judgement on the new guys. I think they're getting more experience of the logistics of attending an F1 season than they are of driving an F1.

Quote from tinvek :but if you really want it you'll find a way, some way, any way to raise the cash, after all who needs a house ?

I dont have one of those. My total assets include 1x10 year old computer, a guitar, a sword, some assorted mommentoes from my travels, a bed with handcuff compatible headrest, some old clothes, a car owned on the basis of an IOU and a bank loan.

Do you think Branson would take part exchange?

I did speak to somebody today who was originally in the first 100 people on the list, but since changed his mind and pulled out. He said he couldn't justify spending that much money and because he did not know whereabouts in the first 100 he was he could not guarantee he'd be able to make the money back by selling the story.

Amazing how the rich approach pleasure spending isn't it .

I have been following this for a while, I think it's marvellous!

I hope that in 10 years or so we'll be seeing orbital flights, and maybe, just maybe, before my death there will be the first deep space passenger flights - maybe to the moon or some such.

When I first descovered this I was astounded that it was going to happen in my own lifetime, and from this beginning who knows how fast the technology will develop.

It's incredible, I love it, and I can't afford it.

In fairness the press are asking him questions and he's answering. Do you think the latest stuff is a case of him putting out press releases trying to capture another 15 minutes of fame? He'a got enough money as a second hand car dealer already, let alone the wealth he earned racing in F1.

I really don't think this is a case of Derek trying to relive his glory days by having an opinion. It's simply a case that he his opinion counted for a lot more than ours as he was the steward on the day, and the press are all Schumacher mad because they've no Princess Diana stories anymore and his results army good enough to sell papers, so they're digging up gossip instead.

I'm on my phone so can't check ATM but I think the difference with the Webber incident is that Schumacher was pushing his victim into a wall, wasn't Webber pushing his into the pit exit road? Iffy sure, but not attempted murder

I agree with most of you.

I dont really hold a view on Schumacher, I was too busy admiring the size of Rubens Barichello's gigantic brass balls! If he planted his undercarriage on an aircraft carrier they'd puncture the decks and sink the ship in seconds!

I read somebody a page or so back saying Rubens should have eased out of it. I disagree, he wasnt going to get another shot at passing Schumacher, Hungary is a shit Grand Prix track which produces crap racing year in and year out. The interest this year came from incidental events, and to actually see an overtake after lap 2 this year was a sheer delight - and for it to be Rubes passing Michael, well that was fantastic - and what a way to do it.

The Stig Stomper still deserves his place in F1.

Kobayashi good. Petrov flipping useless, what the hell was that letting Hamilton past? This is Hungary, overtaking is impossible without balls the size of planets - admittedly Hamilton may have those, but if he'd have made Hamilton work for it then he'd have come out of that race with some credibility as a racing driver.

Webber was brilliant again, I would like to see a title fight between Webber and Hamilton - I think they are by far the most deserving this season.

Button: What was that? Where you racing this weekend or saving yourself for the London triathlon?

Massa: If you are going to keep talking like you are capable of winning then you must at least beat your team mate, let alone some other championship contending drivers (I'm not counting Button here, because every fibre of my body tells me that he doesnt have a car advantage this year)*. * = I appreciate that you are not allowed to beat your team mate, but try anyway ok

Alonso: *shrug* Put a quick guy in a quick car that's what you get.

I actually thought you where more intelligent than this Dustin.

You dont need to change device or location to change your IP address, you can do it without even restarting your PC and irrespective of what your provider does.

Even on a Mac.

Therefor I am awarding you the first ever LFS Forum Muppet Award.

As for your ban, I have known you long enough to know full well it was deserved without even having to look at any evidence. That's not much of a character endorsement is it?

If you want unbanning I suggest medication.

Quote from thisnameistaken :Most guitars produce a very tiny voltage from their pickups, that's why the amplifier has to be so big. Even with active electronics, the most an electric guitar is likely to see is 18v, and 99% of active preamps for mag pups are only 9v (the additional voltage in 18v circuits is really only there to provide more headroom for the onboard EQ which can be done at the amp anyway). Most piezo setups are also 9v, so an amplified uke is likely to see the same voltage as an electric guitar, or more.

HTH.

You still have no sense of humour, only now you're using logic and being correct instead of just insulting people, it's progress at least
